27-marker autosomal test results reveal,
when analyzed against referenced population data, (and cross-referencing other tools, databases, and methods), a strong
MLI (Match Likelihood Index) scores for Native American Ancestry, and a much lower-than-expected MLI score for Northwestern
European ancestry, continuing a pattern of unexpected Native American DNA results received from National Geographic, Family
Tree DNA, and now, DNA Tribes. Visit DNA Tribes and Kerchner's DNA Tribes Test Log for More Information. (Updated January, 2011).

Native Americans who have blended with Europeans and (to a lesser degree) Africans in recent history. This blending is most
typical of Latin American Mestizo peoples, but can also be found in English and French speaking populations of North America
(Metis)."
Comments: I was shocked at how low my
Northwest European MLI has proved to be, verified through DNA testing. This low Northwest European percentage, shown in the
World Region Match, refutes any prior assumptions of a my having a primarily Western European genetic composition, despite
my having a Native American mtDNA result. Response from DNAT when I inquired about percentage of Native American ancestry
shown in my test: "Results for your DNA profile are most consistent with approximately 1/2 Native American ancestry..."
As I have already researched my mother's Amerindian lines, and since receiving these results, I have now re-visited my
father's last recorded genealogy and have derived that the last locale of my father's earliest paternal ancestor was
an 1800s Seneca Indian Reservation in New York, where I find his surname, and given name listed among others. Based on these
significant DNA results, I can only assess that my father, like my mother, had hidden Native American ancestry. DNAT adds:
"...Results indicate that the Native American regions where your own DNA profile is most frequent are the Central American,
Mexican, and Mayan regions. These regions are associated with the early development of maize (corn) growing civilizations,
which spread from Mesoamerica to more distant parts of North and South America (including traditional Six Nations lands of
the eastern US and Canada)." Also from DNAT: "Modern Turkic speaking populations of the Altaian region share genetic
characteristics with East Asian, European, and to a degree Native American populations. These links most likely reflect ancient
contacts across the Bering Strait and links with the ancestors of Native American populations." In addition to consulting
the references, I plan to visit the site of the 1800s Seneca Indian Reservation and hopefully discover more about my father's
family as I have learned about my mother's. I had never expected to find that I had such a clear pattern of Native American
ancestry demonstrated on both my father's and my mother's sides -- let alone a tribal affiliation in the United States.
